(October, 2024) This is the second time AECC at the LifeCentre has saved my dog’s life! I’ve already described my wonderful experience the first time in a previous Google review (see below). Oliver’s second time was far more severe and desperate as he was fighting a toxic reaction to chemotherapy despite ALL the proper precautions taken to evaluate his ability to tolerate the chemo. Oliver was desperately ill and basically had no white blood cells, was vomiting, and experiencing severe diarrhea. Oliver was with the AECC staff for five days as they worked (along with VCA IMed) to stabilize him and monitor his white blood count as well as his neutrophils along with all the rest of his organs. I was fully advised and informed regarding his treatment plan and kept up-to-date on his touch and go progress. The doctors and staff were exceptionally cautious about releasing him to be at home over the weekend. Thankfully, he is fully recovered from the toxic reaction thanks to Dr. Oakley, Dr. Kees, Dr. O’Donnell, Dr. Martinez, and Dr. Williams. A very special thanks to the support staff of LVT’s, PCC’s, technician assistants, and CSR’s who not only worked so very hard to monitor and keep Oliver comfortable as he recovered, but also supported me through this very emotional, intense week.
(March, 2024) A couple of weeks ago I had to take my dog, Oliver, to The LifeCentre in Leesburg, VA because he was having difficulty breathing after vomiting. I cannot begin to describe the wonderful response Oliver and I received from the very professional staff at the clinic. I had called ahead of time to let them know I was on my way. When we got there, Abbey, the CSR, quickly took all my contact information and notified the hospital staff I had arrived. Rachel then met us and took as much detail as I could provide as to what happened. Oliver was examined and I then met with Dr. O’Donnell who provided me with a diagnosis plan. I knew Oliver was in good hands at the clinic and would be well taken care of by Dr. O’Donnell and Oliver’s tech, Sarah. As part of the diagnosis, Oliver went over to Dr. Lester at VCA Internal Medicine where they did an ultrasound. It was determined Oliver had aspiration pneumonia. Dr. O’Donnell and Dr. Lester reached out to our family and we were given a treatment plan. I also want to thank James and Alix at the CSR/Reception Desk who quickly took care of checking us out of the clinic.
This was a really scary thing to see your fur baby go downhill quickly because he couldn’t breathe. It also happened on a day when I was dealing with having a family member unexpectedly in Fair Oaks hospital. Upon explaining this to Dr. O’Donnell, she immediately reassured me that Oliver would be well taken care of and the clinic would stay in touch with our family. This reassurance made the rest of the day manageable and thankfully, Oliver is recovering well.
In a very difficult situation, the entire staff at The LifeCentre were very sensitive to Oliver’s condition and to my emotional state. I am so thankful that I made the decision to take Oliver to The LifeCentre.
I want to leave a 5 star review and personally thank Alix and Dr. Jacobs for helping me and my family through one of the hardest times of our lives. They were not only professional, transparent, honest, but they made me feel part of their family in caring for our dog. Thank you to the doctors and staff for everything during a sad time.
